Living and existing in a society, tainted by a legacy of white supremacy, Black and Brown folk (and other folk of color), who happen to identify as LGBTQIA+ or whom live and exist outside of heteronormative standards and expectations, have the odds stacked against us, by intention and design.
Consequentially, our mental health and overall well-being is adversely impacted in ways we cannot easily distinguish, mostly due to a lack of awareness that can be attributed to being socialized, within a subculture that does not encourage an in-depth analysis of self; thus, leading us to internalize superficial norms, convincing us that prestige and status are antidotes to our individual and collective trauma.
As a result of this, we oftentimes fall short of tending to the wounds that prevent us from becoming self-actualized human beings; and this shows up in how we treat ourselves and each other, as we inadvertently perpetuate cycles of harm that maintain an oppressive and dehumanizing status quo.
However, through the practice and embodiment of love, empathy and compassion, towards ourselves and each other, we honor our humanity and the humanity of others, leading us to treat ourselves and each other with the dignity and respect we’re deserving of; and, through this way of being, we actively work towards our individual and collective liberation, healing and self-actualization.
House of Liberation is a project dedicated to supporting our community with achieving a new lived experience and reality, as we facilitate an experiential process, intended to have us tap into the purest and greatest essence of our humanity.
This directly aligns with the values of The Global Majority's Pride Flag, which was designed to represent a new future for Black and Brown LGBTQIA+ folk (and other LGBTQIA+ folk of color).
